a new macintosh/getting things done application - Ghost Action!
I’ve been trying to find ways to integrate using a Treo, the Mac, and the “Getting Things Done” philospophy all together for a while now. I was just about to give up - and try to figure something out that was more “hack-ish” than anything—then along comes Ghost Action.
Ghost Action is a Mac-based applicaton that lets you bash in all of your contexts, next actions, and projects—relate them to each other, set dates/priorities, and then send them to iCal. Once the data has been handed off to iCal, you can then do things like:
- Publish them to a WebDAV server [if you like]
- Make sure they’re backed up with .Mac
- Sync them to a Palm/iPod/phone of your choice
- Lots more.
I’ve been testing it out, and so far, its got a definite thumbs-up from me! I was able to sucessfully install it, enter my various contexts - and then get it to sync seamlessly with iCal, all with very little effort or difficulty.
There are a few little GUI issues that could use a little work, but those can be ironed out I am sure, with some bug reports and bugfixes. The power it gives me now far outweighs any small issues there are.
Keep an eye on this one. For $20, it’s a steal to be able to “get all of your stuff done” on a Mac, make sure your stuff is on a device of your choice, that your stuff is backed up, or that your stuff can shared with others.
